On this route, you will find some of the most charming places for a lovely walk!
The tourist attraction Kinderdijk is not only enjoyable for foreign visitors. It’s also a magnificent area for locals to wander around for a while. A total of 19 windmills stand proudly amidst land and water. The beautiful polder landscape lies directly along the Lek river, offering delightful walking paths. It can get busy during the summer season, but there are plenty of serene moments to be found in the early and late season. An early morning walk is highly recommended; during the golden hour, you can capture the most beautiful photos!
Anyone who thinks Rotterdam is only urban hasn’t discovered Kralingse Bos yet. Many locals start their day with a five-kilometer jog around the lake. The area is diverse; you can stroll along beaches where children enjoy summer water fun, walk across a long boardwalk over the water, and through a forest area that even features a climbing park. The petting zoo and playground are perfect outings for little ones, while you might prefer to relax at one of the waterfront terraces. In autumn, don’t miss “De Grote Schijn,” a spectacular light show in the forest. Highly recommended!
Enjoying the Dutch coast without bustling boulevards? You can do that on the 17-kilometer-long beach of Ouddorp. This beach is incredibly expansive; in some places, you walk hundreds of meters before reaching the sea. Although relatively quiet, you’ll find plenty of charming beach bars along the way to stop for a drink and enjoy the view over the waves. There’s also plenty to do for water sports enthusiasts. At the Brouwersdam, there are various water sports centers where you can engage in activities like kitesurfing and land sailing.
